    Overview

A national industrial manufacturer and distributor serving construction, structural steel, waterworks, transportation, and OEM markets operates a broad network of manufacturing and distribution facilities across the country. With a lean IT team and aging core infrastructure, the organization needed a partner who could modernize the environment without adding headcount.

    The Challenge

The company was hosting in a deteriorating third-party colocation facility with aging compute and storage platforms nearing refresh cycles. Backup and disaster recovery were largely manual, with no formal runbooks or enterprise-grade tooling — creating meaningful ransomware exposure. A three-person IT team was managing all infrastructure with no capacity to design or operate modern DR environments, and infrastructure lifecycle management had become reactive rather than strategic.

    Our Solution

White Oak Solutions initiated a land-and-expand engagement, beginning with next-generation firewall, switching, and wireless infrastructure. As trust was established, the relationship expanded into full infrastructure modernization — a refresh of six compute hosts, two storage arrays (100TB primary), and professional services for deployment and configuration. Through a brokered relationship with an enterprise data center partner, White Oak delivered Backup as a Service and Disaster Recovery as a Service featuring near-instant RPO/RTO recovery, ransomware rollback, and fully managed DR runbooks. Additional brokerage included dedicated internet access and fiber circuits.

    The Results

The organization shifted from reactive, bare-minimum IT to a modern enterprise infrastructure model. Enterprise-grade ransomware recovery now enables rollback to minutes before compromise with near-instant production recovery. Backup monitoring, reporting, and recovery workflows are fully owned by the managed DR partner, removing DR responsibility from internal staff and freeing the lean IT team to focus on higher-value work.
